Stratics Previews

With the gaming industry changing every day, there are many new games and projects that we are all looking forward to. Some games are pioneering new breakthroughs in 3D technology, while others are implementing innovative, new story-telling techniques. And still other games just plain sound cool. In this section, Stratics will offer a peek at those games which are currently in development.

  • Shot Online by Maggie "AutumnKiss" Olsen added 8-22-06
When I first entered the world of Shot Online, I was greeted with a listing of previous and upcoming in-world events. It was like the weekly Social Events calendar that comes in your Sunday newspaper. Players can practice their putting, try their hand at the long ball on the driving range, or play courses with other fellow players. Earn money (or NG as it is called in game) by performing well. You can enter tournaments and even quest.
  • Wish by Carolyn "Sylvene" Herrick added 7-29-03
On first glance, Wish looks like any other MMORPG. However, unlike current MMORPGs where players log on to separate shards or worlds with several hundred players, Wish employs a scalable server cluster architecture that will allow tens of thousands of players to play simultaneously in a seamless fantasy world.
  • Frontier 1859 by Luke "Biscosity" Burkett added 6-23-03
Summer has always been my favorite time of the year for games. It seems to be the one season where developers really push the exciting projects they are working on. Case in point, there happens to be an extremely intriguing MMORPG currently in the works by a small group called Cosmic Origins, and the name of that game is Frontier 1859.
  • Mythica by Simon "Auz" Austin added 5-26-03
If you've ever despaired at reaching your goal in an MMOG and finding a queue of players already there then Microsoft's Mythica may be the game for you.
  • Everquest II by Carolyn "Sylvene" Herrick added 05-20-03
Set about 500 years after the current EverQuest game, we see the Norrath of the future. A cataclysm has destroyed the moon by name of Luclin and looking up into the sky; one can still see the remnants of the disaster on the face of the moon.
  • Middle Earth Online by Simon "Auz" Austin added 05-15-03
Officially announced only last week, the deal for Turbine Entertainment to develop Vivendi’s Middle-Earth Online has already born fruit a mere four months after the deal was signed. Much of this is down to Turbine’s ability to adapt their "Turbine Engine 2.0" quickly to new designs and so, at the Vivendi conference rooms today, we were given a lengthy demonstration of the current state of MEO.
  • Dragon Empires/Codemasters Tour by Simon "Auz" Austin added 12-8-02
Our own Simon "Auz" Austin recently had the opportunity to tour the headquarters of Codemasters and learn more about Dragon Empires, their upcoming MMOG scheduled for release in late 2003.
  • World of Warcraft by Lord of Dreams
Blizzard Entertainment is at it again, but this time it is on a much greater scale than ever before. Blizzard is a company known for their hit games. Titles like Warcraft 2, Diablo and Starcraft have put Blizzard on the map as a innovative genre-setting game developer, but there is one big obstacle Blizzard has yet to tackle.
  • Atriarch Preview by Ethos added 5-16-01
At its core, Atriarch is built around five unique player controlled species. Yes, you heard right... this is not a game where life forms are similar enough to be called races, not quite, in Atriarch the life forms are so massively different that in many respects they don't even seem to have evolved from the same basic life forms.
  • Adellion Preview by Tathar Devir added 3-14-01
Check out our updated Adellion preview which describes the story behind this exciting new roleplay-based title that is entirely playable via your web broswer.
  • Destiny-Online Preview by Danciy Dynae added 12-3-00
In Destiny-Online, join a clan in space, and fly ships throughout the galaxy in pursuit of trade, alliances, and enemy guilds.
